GritHost provides individually tailored WordPress powered websites for small to medium sized organisations and businesses.
Each GritHost website will include the following elements:
— An account on the WordPress powered GritHost network. This gives your website all the native benefits of using WordPress as a publishing platform but without some of the complexity and maintenance overhead usually required in managing a self-hosted WordPress installation. GritHost will also be extended with additional features designed to meet the needs of a range of different organisations and businesses.
— A customised website theme designed to match the existing style and branding of your organisation. All themes are based on my own robust WordPress theme framework, Oystershell, which helps ensure that your website will be optimised to play nicely with search engines and look good on mobile devices. Because I am constantly reviewing and improving the Oystershell framework your website’s theme will stay up to date and keep pace with the latest code standards.
— Configuration of the website to handle a range of different kinds of content depending on your requirements. By making full use of custom post types and post formats we can go beyond the usual two of ‘pages’ and ‘posts’ to create a content structure for your website that truly reflects the nature of your organisation.
— A range of recommended and custom built plugins to add additional functionality and a choice of additional theme features. Examples include slideshows, image galleries and contact forms.
— The integration of your new website with your social media and business work flows.
The initial set-up and configuration
Working with you, I will build a website that is tailored to your needs.
The process starts by discussing with you your organisation and objectives so as to discover what you need from your website. We then agree on a simple specification for the website so everyone is clear what is included. Then your website is constructed from a set of tried and tested components and tailored to meet the needs of your organisation.
You will then have an opportunity to review this ‘draft’ website and suggest tweaks and modifications before the final configuration to get the website up and running. The final part of the process is the handover of the ‘Website Manual’ for your new website and, depending on your needs, a small amount of initial training.
While this process works best when starting from scratch, it can also be adapted to involve converting an existing website to WordPress or to refreshing your current WordPress website.
Managed WordPress hosting
The service does not stop once your website is set up on the GritHost network. You website will continue to be supported by an ongoing managed WordPress hosting service. This looks after the technology that runs your website allowing you to concentrate on your content and visitors.
This service includes friendly advice and support via email, an actively managed infrastructure, and access to a growing range of guides and support materials.
The initial set-up and configuration of a GritHost website is a one off cost that starts from £720.00. This includes six months of the managed WordPress hosting service.
After that the managed WordPress hosting service costs £18.00 per month or £198.00 a year.
